Lady Lions Back At Home Hosting Texas Woman's, Tarleton State

UAFS women's basketball team is coming off an outstanding weekend on the road with two wins against old conference rivals - St. Mary's and St. Edward's. The Lady Lions will be looking to extend the winning streak as they host Texas Woman's at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday and Tarleton State at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Stubblefield Center. 

The Lady Lions are preparing for this week with an overall 6-7 record and 3-4 conference record. Since 2010-11 season UAFS women's basketball is currently 0-2 against Tarleton and 0-3 against Texas Woman's in all-time series and will be looking to snap the losing streak against both opponents. 

At this point of the year, the Lady Lions are averaging 58.8 points per game while shooting 38.4 percent from the field, 26.1 percent from the three point line and 70.4 percent from the free throw line. The Lady Lions are led in scoring by Mar'Shalia Lollie (10.8 ppg.), who is coming off a historic performance against St. Edward's, and Paige Elston (10.6 ppg.) while Eden Ashanti is adding 8.1 points per game. UAFS is passing the ball well as a team with 10.8 assists per game, led by Paige Elston (3.8 apg.) and Alexsis Brown (2.3 apg.). 

Defensively, the Lady Lions have been tremendous as of late! They held their opponents to only 57 points per game on 34.7 percent shooting from the field in the last two games. Overall, the Lady Lions are allowing 6.8 points per game with 40.2 percent shooting from the field, 28.2 percent from beyond the arc and 67 percent from the free throw line. As a team, UAFS are grabbing 36.5 rebounds per game, led by Lollie (7.7 rpg.) and Tamera Gulley (7.4 rpg.). The Lady Lions are forcing 19.4 turnovers per game while also recording 9.1 steals per game, led by Elston (2.1 spg.), while Lollie and Eden are adding 1.5 steals per game each. 

This is the first conference homestand of the new year for the Lady Lions and both live stats and live broadcast will be available for both matches at UAFS Women's Basketball Schedule and on Fox Sports 103.5 FM and 101.1 FM.
