Lions Set to Host Eagles in Saturday Showdown

After walking away with the win, 66-62, against Midwestern State last Saturday, the UAFS men's basketball team is preparing to host Oklahoma Christian on Saturday, February 1st. The Lions will meet up with the Eagles for a Saturday showdown at 4pm at the Stubblefield Center in hopes of extending their winning streak. The Lions will be going into their weekend game with an overall record of 8-11 on the season and 4-9 in conference play.

The Oklahoma Christian Eagles' current record is 7-10 on the season and 6-7 in conference. In past matchups against Oklahoma Christian, the Lions have been historically successful, leading the series with a 9-5 record. The last time these two teams met up, Oklahoma Christian edged out UAFS with a score of 61-69. They hope to avenge this loss and increase their series lead after Saturday's game.

At this point in the year, the Lions are averaging 67.8 points per game, with Brian Halums (25.7 ppg), Matthew Wilson (15.7 ppg), and Chris Rollins (8.4 ppg). They are shooting with a 45.7 field goal percentage, a 32.7 percentage from the 3-point line, and 66.8 free throw percentage.

On the defensive side, UAFS is currently allowing their opponents to score an average 69.3 points per game while shooting 43.1% from the field, 33.6% from behind the 3-point line, and 71.8% at the free throw line. However, the Lions are averaging 32.9 rebounds per game while also recording 5.5 steals per game, led by Wilson who averages 1.3 steals per game.

UAFS men's basketball will be looking for another win at home before they head out on another road trip next weekend.
