UAFS women's basketball team has played another tough nationally-ranked team on the road as the Lady Lions fell to no. 6 ranked A&M-Commerce on Thursday night by the score of 46-82. A&M-Commerce remains perfect at 16-0 on the season. The Lady Lions were led by
Ashanti Eden with 12 points and two rebounds. UAFS is now 7-9 overall on the season and 4-6 in conference play, as the Lady Lions head to Tyler, Texas to take on UT Tyler on Saturday.
Offensively the Lady Lions scored 46 points on 34 percent shooting from the field, only 7.1 percent from the three point line and 60 percent from the free throw line. UAFS team was led in scoring by Eden (12) and Lollie (10) while
Alexsis Brown added six points. As a team, UAFS recorded five assists, led by
Hannah Boyett with two assists.
Defensively, the Lady Lions allowed 82 points, while their opponents shot 40.5 percent from the field, 33.3 percent from the three point line and 81.8 percent from the charity stripe. UAFS recorded 40 rebounds, led by
Tamera Gulley (14) while Lollie and
Laurissa Campbell added six rebounds each. The Lady Lions forced seven turnovers while also recording three.
The Lady Lions will be back in action on Saturday as they head to Tyler, Texas to take on UT Tyler at 2 p.m. on Saturday nin the weekend finale.
