Rattlers Rally To Edge Lady Lions

Rattlers Rally To Edge Lady Lions

UAFS seized the early momentum against St. Mary's during doubles play in their Heartland Conference women's tennis match on Friday, but the Lady Lions couldn't sustain their lead.

St. Mary's rallied back with four wins in singles play to beat UAFS 4-1 in Arlington, Texas.

St. Mary's (10-5, 2-0) remained undefeated in conference play, while UAFS (5-7, 0-3) remained winless in league play with one match remaining. UAFS was scheduled to play St. Edward's at 2 p.m. on Saturday in Dallas, but that math was moved up to 6:45 p.m. on Friday.

Bianca Koen and Samantha Wong beat Ally Maciel and Alex Corder 6-4 at No. 1 doubles, and Joanna Potet and Chloe Ruppanner beat Hannah Peterson and Ashley Penshorn 6-3 at No. 3 doubles to give the Lady Lions the doubles point.

St. Mary's, though, rallied back, winning the Nos. 1-3 and No. 6 singles matches to seize the match win.
