Fresh off spring break, the UAFS women's tennis team resumed play on Tuesday afternoon with a 7-0 nonconference, road win against the William Jewell Cardinals in Joplin, Mo.
It was the third win four matches for UAFS (5-5), which will finish the week with a 10 a.m. match on Saturday against Midwestern State at Wichita Falls, Texas.
UAFS swept all three doubles matches to take an early 1-0 lead.
Bianca Koen and
Samantha Wong won a hard fought match against Becca Richison and Hannah Waine 7-5 at No. 1 doubles.
Shaun Williams and
Majella Nobile beat Whitney Hollaman and Caroline Lane 6-1 at No. 2 doubles and
Joanna Potet and
Chloe Ruppanner beat Meredith Houk and Julia Yamate, 6-0 at No. 3 doubles.
The Lady Lions breezed through all but one singles, posting wins in straight sets at Nos. 2-6 singles. Koen battled back from a second-set loss to beat Richison 6-1, 4-6, 11-9 in a three-set thriller at No. 1 singles.
