The UAFS women's tennis team ended its three-match home stand on Saturday with a 5-2 win against the Missouri Western Griffons at the Fort Smith Athletic Club.
UAFS (3-4) went 1-2 during the home stand, losing to Oklahoma Baptist 6-1 on Tuesday and Heartland Conference foe Dallas Baptist 4-2 on Friday. The Lady Lions will return to action on Thursday when they play the Harding Bison at 2 p.m. at Searcy, Ark.
The Lady Lions set the tone of the match early, winning two of the three doubles matches to secure the doubles point.
Bianca Koen and
Samantha Wong beat Ciarra Gilmore and Mireia Birosta 6-0 at No. 1 doubles, and
Shaun Williams and
Majella Nobile beat Karolina Strom and Joanna Roman Abreu 6-1 at No. 2 doubles.
Nobile beat Birosta 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 singles,
Joanna Potet beat Abreu 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 singles, Williams beat Gilmore 6-2, 6-0 at No. 4 singles and Wong beat Federica Salmaso 6-4, 6-2 at No. 5 singles.
