The UAFS women's tennis team took an early 1-0 lead after doubles play, but the Lady Lions couldn't hold off Newman in singles play as the Jets rallied for a 4-2 win in Heartland Conference play at Fort Smith Athletic Club.
It was the final match of a five-match home stand for the Lady Lions (4-5, 0-2), who went 2-3 during that span. The Lady Lions will return to action on Tuesday, March 26, when they play William Jewel in Joplin, Mo.
UAFS picked up two wins in doubles play to earn the point.
Bianca Koen and
Samantha Wong beat Liza Gerasimova and Vlada Litvinova 6-2 at No. 1 doubles, and
Joanna Potet and
Chloe Ruppanner beat Mariana Gaviria and Mirella Cavalcanti 7-6 at No. 3 doubles.
Wong posted the Lady Lions' lone singles match win, beating Gaviria 6-2, 6-0 at No. 5 singles.
