Lions To Start Conference Road Trip Facing Oklahoma Christian

UAFS men's basketball hs lost the final two non-conference, home games of the year and will now embark on a five-game long conference road trip starting with a matchup against an old conference rival, Oklahoma Christian at 4 p.m. on Saturday at Eagle Nest in Oklahoma City. The Lions are traveling to this game with a 5-3 overall, 1-1 conference record, and will be looking to bounce back against the Eagles. 

So far in the season, the Lions are scoring 72.5 points per game with average 47.1 percent shooting from the field and are led by Brian Halums (23.1 ppg), Matthew Wilson (18.6 ppg) and Chris Rollins (9.5 ppg). The Lions are shooting 34.1 percent from beyond the arc led by Wilson (37.3%) while also shooting 67.9 percent from the free throw line led by Matiss Sivins (83.3%), Wilson (82.6%) and Halums (75.4%). UAFS passes the ball well with 13.5 assists per game, led by Charles Botchway (4.1 apg). 

Defensively, the Lions are holding their opponents to 69.9 points per game and an average 42.8 percentage shooting from the field. UAFS opponents also shoot 34.5 percent from the three point line and 73.2 percent from the free throw line. The Lions grab 35.4 rebounds per game, led by Halums (7.5 rpg), Rollins (5.9 rpg) and Matt Morgan (4.4 rpg). UAFS forces 12.1 turnovers while also recording five steals per game. 

This is not the first meeting between the two teams, as they played 13 times before with Lions leading the all-time series by 9-4. Lions lost the most recent matchup against Oklahoma Christian on February 28, 2019  by the score of 73-88 in Oklahoma City.

This is the first in the series of road games that the Lions will play in December and beginning of January. Live stats and live broadcast will be available for this matchup. 

After Oklahoma City, the Lions will travel to Portales, N.M. to take on Eastern New Mexico.
