UAFS men's basketball have lost their final non-conference game of the season and recorded their third loss as the Lions fell to the Warriors of Hendrix College by the score of 78-88. The Lions are now 5-3 overall on the season. This was also the final home game of the 2019 as the Lions' next home game is in January 2020.
Offensively, the Lions shot 46 percent from the field, 31.3 percent from beyond the arc and 62.5 percent from the free throw line as a team. They were led in scoring by
Brian Halums (26) and Matthrew Wilson (22) while
Matiss Sivins added 8. Lions shared the ball well with 16 assists and were led by WIlson and
Charles Botchway with four each.
Defensively, the Lions allowed their opponent a 53.6 field goal percentage, 52 three point percentage and 75 for the free throw percentage as a team. UAFS forced 12 turnovers and recorded four steals where they were led by Halums (2).
Matt Morgan (7) and Halums (7) led the team in rebounding while as a team, the Lions grabbed 39 rebounds.
This is the first time that the Lions have lost to Hendrix in the all-time series. The all-time series are now evened out at 1-1
UAFS men's basketball team is back in action next week as the Lions travel to Oklahoma City to take on the old conference rival - Oklahoma Christian at 4 PM on Saturday, December 14.
