This week's UAFS men's basketball schedule features two games against state rivals as the Lions host Harding at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday and Hendrix at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday at Stubblefield Center. This is the Lions' final homestand before they head out on a five-game conference roadtrip. These are also the UAFS men's basketball's final home games of the year, as the Lions' next home game will be a conference matchup against DBU on January 9.
So far in the season, the Lions have been led by
Brian Halums who is currently averaging 23.2 points per game on an impressive 52.2 field goal percentage , while also adding 2.3 assist per game. Halums is closely followed by Matthew Willson (19.7 ppg) who is currently shooting team-high 43.1 percent from beyond the arc.
Charles Botchway leads the team in assists (4 apg) followed by Willson (2.7). As a team, the Lions are averaging 74 points per game, while shooting 48.6 percent from the field, 36 percent from the three point line and 68.5 percent from the free throw line.
Defensively, the Lions are allowing only 67.2 points per game, while their opponents are shooting 41.3 percent from the field, 30.1 percent from the three point line and 72.3 percent from the free throw line. As a team, the Lions are grabbing 34.5 rebounds per game, led by Halums (7.3 rpg),
Chris Rollins (6.0 rpg) and
Matt Morgan (4.5 rpg.) UAFS is currently recording 5.2 steals per game, led by Halums (1.5 spg), while also forcing 13.2 turnovers from their opponents.
This will be the first-ever matchup between the Lions and Harding, so the Lions will be looking to start the all-time series with a win. The Lions have played against Hendrix only once, in November 2018, as the Lions won the game by the score of 90-59.
