UAFS Volleyball team started their weekend homestand off with a win over Western New Mexico by the scores of 25-23, 26-24, 21-25, 25-22. The Lady Lions have tied the all-time series against Western News Mexico to 1-1.
Offensively, UAFS hit a .201 clip with 55 kills on 169 attempts and 21 errors. The Lady Lions recorded 50 assists, three serving aces and seven errors.
Anna Demmer led the Lady Lions with 16 kills on 46 attempts and 5 errors which resulted in .239 hitting percentage.
Lexie Johnston added another 10 kills on 22 attempts and only one error which sustains her tremendous hitting percentage.
Defensively, the Lady Lions held the Mustangs to a .175 hitting percentage with 60 kills on 177 attempts and 29 errors. UAFS recorded 70 digs and six team blocks. Demmer led the Lady Lions with 18 digs, followed by Van Wyk and Jazlyn Wells who added 15 digs each.
The Lady Lions continue their homestand at 1 p,m, on Saturday against UT Permian Basin as a part of their senior day celebration. UAFS is graduating six seniors,
