UAFS volleyball team has advanced to the Lone Star Conference Championships semifinals as the Lady Lions defeated St. Edward's in four sets by the scores of 16-25, 25-19, 25-15, 25-17. UAFS started off slow in the first half, but after the break between first and second set they turned up the intensity and dominated the following three sets. In semifinals the Lady Lions will face the winner of the second quarterfinal between Angelo State and UT Permian Basin.
Offensively, the Lady Lions hti a .344 clip with 51 kills on 122 attempts and only nine errors.
Rachel Williams (14) led the team in kills followed by
Anna Demmer (10) and
Lexie Johnston (10).
Addie Vidrine recorded two service aces while
Amanda Van Wyk added 35 assists.
Defensively, UAFS held the opponents to a .204 hitting percentage with 49 kills on 142 attempts and 20 errors. Demmer led the defense with 16 digs followed by Vidrine (13) and
Courtney Crownover (12). Johnston led the Lady Lions in blocks (6) followed by Van Wyk (4) and Williams (2).
The UAFS Volleyball team is now getting ready for the semifinals match against the winner of the Angelo State/UT Permian Basin duel. The semifinal will be played at 5 p.m. on Friday on Texas A&M-Commerce campus. Both
