Lady Lions Fall To Angelo State After A Five Set Battle

UAFS volleyball team has concluded its competition in this year's Lone Star Conference Championships as the Lady Lions lost to (14) Angelo State in the tournament semifinal in five sets by the scores of 31-29, 19-25, 25-21, 28-30, 10-15. The Lady Lions will continue to prepare for the regional tournament as they are currently ranked fifth in the region ahead of the selection show which takes place on Monday night. 

Offensively, the Lady Lions hit a  .145 clip with 64 kills on 214 attempts and 33 errors. Senior outside hitter Anna Demmer stepped up and led the team in kills (20) followed by Courtney Crownover (13) and Rachel Williams (13). Amanda Van Wyk recorded 43 assists while also adding eight kills on the game. 

Defensively, UAFS recorded 107 digs and 10 blocks to hold the Angelo State's offense to a .174 hitting percentage with 71 kills on 224 attempts and 32 errors. The Lady Lions were led in digs by Addie Vidrine (26), Van Wyk (25) and Crownover (21). 

The Lady Lions are now 26-6 overall on the season and 17-1 in conference play, heading into the weekend that will decide their ranking in the South Central Region and ultimately the regionals first-round opponent. Keep upp with uafortsmithlions.com for all update.
