UAFS Women's volleyball team has advanced to Lone Star Conference Championship quarterfinals as the Lady Lions defeated Texas A&M-Kingsville in three sets by the scores of 25-22, 26-24, 25-19.
Offensively, the Lady Lions have distributed scoring evenly as
Lexie Johnston recorded 9 kills, followed by
Rachel Williams (8) and
Anna Demmer (8). Senior setter
Amanda Van Wyk dished out 23 assists while adding six kills. As a team, UAFS hit a .238 clip with 37 kills on 101 attempts and 13 errors.
Defensively, UAFS was led by Van Wyk with 14 digs followed by
Erin Black who added eight. As a team, the Lady Lions recorded 42 digs and held their opponents to a .143 hitting percentage with 37 kills on 112 attempts and 21 errors. Johnston, Black, and
Courtney Crownover added two blocks each.
The Lady Lions move on to the quarterfinals of the Lone Star Conference Championships and will match up against the old rival - St. Edward's at noon on Thursday in Commerce, Texas.
