After sweeping the opening weekend during the Coca-Cola Conference Challenge against Black Hills State and Metro State, UAFS Men's basketball team has a quick turnaround as the Lions host Central Baptist College at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Stubblefield Center.
In the first two games the Lions were led by the starting guard combo
Brian Halums and
Matthew Wilson. Halums is currently averaging a double double with 30 points, 10.5 rebounds, four assists and 1.5 steals while Willson averages 17 points and 2 rebounds per game. Along with the guard combo, junior forward
Chris Rollins is contributing with 13 points and 3.5 rebounds while junior point guard
Charles Botchway adds 7.5 points, five rebounds and 3 assists. As a team, UAFS is averaging 81 points while shooting .495 from the field, .324 from the three point line and .719 from the free throw line.
Defensively, the Lions are holding their opponents to 71 points per game and forcing them to turn the ball over 13 times per game. Lions also record five steals and 2.5 blocks per game. UAFS on average outrebounds their opponents by 6.5 rebounds.
Historically, UAFS Lions are averaging 102.5 points per game against Central Baptist while they also lead the all-time series against the Mustangs by 2-0. Lions will be looking to improve their all-time record on Wednesday. Tickets are on sale now and available at the
