UAFS Women's Basketball team has had a perfect opening weekend during the conference challenge in Austin, Texas hosted by St. Edward's. The Lady Lions have swept the weekend as they defeated Colorado Christian by the score of 73-59. UAFS is now 2-0 on the season.
Offensively, the Lady Lions have shot an outstanding 63.6 percent from beyond the arc (7-11) while maintaining good free throw shooting at 83.3 percent. Overall the Lady Lions recorded a 47.2 field goal percentage (25-53). UAFS was led by four players scoring in double digits.
Paige Elston led all scorers with 17 points, 4 assists and 2 steals while
Hannah Boyett and
Leiloni Culley added 13 points each. Culley also grabbed 6 rebounds.
Ashanti Eden added 12 points and
Tamera Gulley recorded 8 totaled at UAFS starting lineup outscoring the opposing team with 63 points.
Defensively, the Lady Lions held Colorado Christian to a 36.5 shooting percentage while also forcing 16 turnovers and adding another 9 steals. Colorado Christian shot only 21.1 percent from beyond the arc (4-19).
UAFS Women's Basketball will be back in action at 5:30 p.m. on November 13, as the Lady Lions take on Central Oklahoma in Edmond, Okla.
