UAFS Volleyball team has recorded a hard-fought, big-time win on the road against Texas A&M-Commerce as the Lady Lions won by the scores of 25-17, 25-22, 19-25, 22-25, 15-6. This way, the Lady Lions get their revenge for the only conference loss this season.
UAFS started out strong, getting up by 2:0, but Texas A&M-Commerce surged back and tied up the game at 2:2. In the fifth set, the Lady Lions took a commanding 6:0 lead which allowed them to finish the game off strong - winning the fifth set by 15-6.
In a very balanced performance, five Lady Lions recorded double digit kills -
Courtney Crownover (14),
Lexie Johnston (14),
Anna Demmer (12), and
Rachel Williams (11) carried UAFS offensively combining for 51 kills.
Amanda Van Wyk recorded 42 assists while also adding 8 kills. As a team, UAFS hit a .230 clip with 60 kills on 161 attacks and 23 errors.
Defensively, UAFS recorded 72 digs and seven blocks while holding Texas A&M-Commerce to a .153 hitting percentage with 56 kills on 170 attacks and 30 errors.
Lexy Lewis (19), Van Wyk (15), Crownover (15), and Demmer (12) led the Lady Lions in digs while Johnston dominated blocks (4).
Thus, the Lady Lions start their conference roadtrip with a win against Texas A&M-Commerce and will be looking to sweep the reoadtrip against UT Tyler on Saturday at 1 p.m. Live stats and live broadcast will be available.
