UAFS Volleyball team has defeated St. Mary's in straight sets by the scores of 25-12, 25-21, 25-17. Looking forward to the second game of the weekend, the Lady Lions have improved their conference record to 9-1 and their overall season record to 17-5.
Offensively, the Lady Lions were led by senior middle hitter
Lexie Johnston with 11 kills while senior outside hitter
Anna Demmer added 9 kills.
Amanda Van Wyk recorded 32 assists and added 2 kills. As a team, UAFS hit a .291 clip with 39 kills on 86 attempts and 14 errors.
Defensively, as a team, UAFS held St. Mary's to a paltry .032 hitting percentage with 26 kills on 94 attempts and 23 errors. The Lady Lions were led by
Lexy Lewis with 12 digs and Johnston and Demmer who recorded 3 blocks respectively.
The Lady Lions continue their homestand as they play against St. Edward's on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Stubblefield Center. This match also features Buckets of Hope donation drive which grants free admission to all fans who bring canned food or baby supplies to the Stubblefield front ticket office.
