Kris Hutchins joined the UAFS Athletics administrative staff in January of 2026.
Hutchins joins UAFS from Wiley University in Marshall, Texas, where he served as a Student Success Coach and Assistant Director of Intramurals.
In his role at Wiley, Hutchins established B.U.I.L.D. (Brothers Uplifting, Inspiring, Leading, and Developing), increasing first-year male student retention by 15 percent. He collaborated with coaches and academic advisors to develop academic success plans and served as a liaison between athletics and academics, leading to a 20 percent increase in student-athlete GPA.
Prior to Wiley, Hutchins was a graduate assistant in both athletics administration and track & field at Emmanuel University, developing athlete performance programs, leading fundraising efforts, establishing faculty-athlete mentoring programs and working in the compliance office to adhere to institutional and NCAA standards.
A former student-athlete himself, Hutchins set multiple school records at St. Andrew’s University in track while also playing basketball, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Sport and Fitness Administration/Management.
He earned a Master of Exercise Science at Emmanuel while continuing his track career, setting records in the decathlon and javelin.
A native of Birmingham, Alabama, Hutchins is currently working on his second master’s in clinical mental health counseling at Houston Christian University prior to getting his PhD in sports psychology.
