Catherine Hunter joined the UAFS Volleyball coaching staff in June 2024.
Hunter joins the Lions after one season as an assistant at Frostburg State, helping guide the Bobcats to a Mountain East Conference Tournament appearance.
"I am so grateful for the opportunity to learn from Coach Sargent and to be a part of the Lady Lions' legacy of success," Hunter said. "From my first conversation with the athletic department at UAFS I was wowed by the school's culture and dedication toward the pursuit of excellence. I am looking forward to the high level of competition in the MIAA, and plan on helping to bring home a championship ring to add to the team's collection."
Prior to her time at Frostburg State, Hunter pursued a personal training certification and worked in the private coaching and fitness industry for two years. She has also coached club volleyball in New England since 2017.
"We are so happy to have Catherine join our coaching staff," Sargent said. "She brings energy and a wide range of experiences to our program and has been working hard to establish connections with our players and staff. I am looking forward to seeing the positive impact she will bring to our program."
Hunter played collegiately at NCAA III Babson College, finishing her career as a two-year starter on the right side. She led the Beavers to the Sweet 16 as junior and then NEWMAC regular season and conference tournament championships as a senior, ending the year in the Elite Eight and a No. 5 national ranking.
Hunter likes to keep that competitive spirit alive, still competing in grass and beach tournaments.
Hunter graduated from Babson in 2018 with a BSBA degree with a finance concentration.
