Elisa Shoate

Eisa Shoate-Briggs begins her second season as assistant women’s basketball coach.

She also serves as recruiting coordinator, monitors academics and assists with the weight training program and conditioning program.

Prior to joining the UAFS staff, Shoate-Briggs was a registered nurse specializing in emergency room care.

A native of Fort Coffee, Okla., Shoate-Briggs played two seasons for the UAFS women’s basketball team. In 2007-08, she helped lead the Lady Lions to a 34-2 record, the Bi-State Conference East Division Championship, the NJCAA Region II Tournament Championship and a third-place finish in the NJCAA National Tournament.

Shoate-Briggs, who is a graduate of Spiro (Okla.) High School, played one season for NCAA Division I University of Cincinnati before suffering a career-ending knee injury. She returned to UAFS, where she graduated in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in nursing.
