University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Women's Basketball Head Coach Ryan McAdams added Cassie Klockgether as assistant coach to his staff in September 2021.
Klockgether joins the Lady Lions coaching staff after two seasons as the Associate Head Coach at Westcliff University in Irvine, California. Her roles at Westcliff consisted of being the recruiting coordinator, player development, lead scouts and coordinating both offensive and defensive strategies. Before her departure, she was awarded the David McKinney Award for Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion.
Klockgether is also an assistant coach for the Philippines Women's National Team, where she scouts and trains talented Filipinos and helps build bridges across the United States. She has also coached in Singapore, training and guiding beginners and advanced players who had goals to play basketball in America. One notable player coached by Klockgether in Singapore is Ariel Loiter, who now plays at Colgate University.
Klockgether has one season of NCAA II coaching experience, serving as an assistant coach at Central Washington University in 2016-17. In her one season there, CWU finished 15-15 and advanced to the second round of the GNAC Tournament.
Her first coaching position came at Montgomery High School in San Diego, where she was the head coach for five seasons. Klockgether guided the Aztecs to three consecutive South Bay League championships and back-to-back 20-win seasons.
Klockgether also got the opportunity to be a guest speaker at the Las Vegas Nike Coaching Clinic (Americas Got Coaching Talent Winner), where she gave a session on "80% Mental, Getting Your Players to their Optimal Level."
Prior to coaching in Singapore, CWU and Montgomery, Klockgether was a standout guard at Saddleback College before transferring to Stony Brook University. At Saddleback, Klockgether averaged 20.1 points, 5.9 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game. Her efforts on the court garnered attention across the country, receiving first team All-Orange Empire Conference and first team all-state recognition as a sophomore. In 2012, she was inducted into the Saddleback College Athletics Hall of Fame. In two seasons at Stony Brook, she appeared in 22 games, starting six.
Klockgether was born in the Philippines and moved to the Unites States when she was just four years old. She graduated from Stony Brook University (NY) in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology. She later received a Master of Arts in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University (CA).
