Prissy Buchanan begins her ninth season as an assistant coach for the women’s golf team.
Buchanan is a native of Texarkana, Ark., and a graduate of Arkansas Tech University, where she earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees. She was a teacher at Fort Smith’s Chaffin Junior High for 29 years, serving as band director for 26 years, and was a music instructor at UAFS for six years.
She was named the 1995 Arkansas Bandmaster of the Year and was inducted into the Arkansas Bandmasters Hall of Fame in 2009. She is an active band clinician and judge throughout Arkansas and Oklahoma. She is a Presbyterian Elder and a member of the choir.
An avid golfer, she is a former Ben Geren Ladies Golf Champion.
