FORT SMITH, Ark. - University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Volleyball continues MIAA play this week as the Lions host Northeastern State tonight before visiting No. 15 Washburn on Friday.
The Lions will host the RiverHawks at 6 p.m. Tuesday for Faculty & Staff Appreciation Night, as well as Clash of the Colleges and will be signing their 2026 schedule posters following the match.
UAFS will then face the Ichabods at 6 p.m. Friday in Topeka, Kansas. Both matches will be streamed on the MIAA Network with live stats available at uafortsmithlions.com. Tuesday's match will also be broadcast on Fox Sports Radio 103.5.
NOTES:
LAST WEEK: The Lions opened MIAA play 1-1 at the Stubblefield Center, falling to No. 25 Central Missouri before sweeping Missouri Southern.
8: UAFS earned its eighth sweep of the season Saturday in the win over Missouri Southern.
AROUND THE LEAGUE: UAFS is second in the MIAA in aces with 1.91 per set and third with 17.64 digs per set.
LEAGUE LEADERS: Outside hitter Lydia Pitts leads the league with 3.60 kills per set while middle blocker Aspen Olson is 10th with a .329 attack percentage. Setter Mayli Whetter is third in assists with 9.00 per set and libero Abbey Jackson is eighth with 4.38 digs per set.
SCOUTING NSU: The RiverHawks are 1-11, 0-2 MIAA in their inaugural season. They rank near the bottom in numerous statistical categories around the league and are led by Ashlyn Tag and Poliana Lazarini with 67 kills each.
SCOUTING WU: The Ichabods are 11-3, 1-1 MIAA and ranked No. 15 in this week's AVCA Top 25. Washburn leads the league in assists and kills as setter Shannon Frakes tops the MIAA with 10.76 assists per set while Emma Siron is third with 3.49 kills per set.
THE SERIES: This will be the inaugural meeting with Northeastern State while the Lions are 0-4 against Washburn.
