ARLINGTON - University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Men's Tennis earned its second win of the season as the Lions defeated Texas Wesleyan, 4-2, Friday at the Arlington Tennis Center.
Rodrigo Hoppe and Kevin Praphan teamed for a 6-1 win at No. 1 doubles, but the Rams won the top two flights for the 1-0 advantage.
The Lions scored all four points in singles action, as Eduardo Bribiesca put the Lions on the board with a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 1. Nathan Rigault won 6-3, 6-4, as well, at No. 3 to give the Lions a 2-1 lead, before Kevin Praphan put the Lions ahead, 3-2, with a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 6.
Kivanc Bedir closed out the match with a 6-3, 7-6 win at No. 5. At No. 2, Birk Arwedahl was leading in the third set, 6-3, 6-7, 3-0 when his match went unfinished due to the Lions clinching.
In the women's match, Arianna De Bernardo and Antonietta Bocache each picked up singles wins in a 5-2 defeat. De Bernardo won 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 at No. 1 while Bocache won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3.
Bocache also teamed with Gracie Pereff for a 6-3 win at No. 2 doubles.
Both teams are back in action at noon Sunday in Little Rock against Mississippi College.
