SEARCY, Ark. – University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Volleyball wrapped up a 3-0 weekend with a 3-1 (25-11, 24-26, 25-9, 25-16) win over Crowley's Ridge College Saturday.
The Lions hit .271 for the match to .054 for the Pioneers. UAFS hit .481 in the opening set and then .320 in set three.
UAFS led 8-7 in set one before scoring 17 of the next 21 points in a dominating opening set.
The Lions led by seven in set two but a 7-0 run by the Pioneers put them ahead, 19-16. UAFS battled back to take a 24-22 lead but the Pioneers rallied for four straight points to even the match.
UAFS then turned it back on for sets three and four, racing out to a 13-3 lead in set three and then using a 13-2 run in set four to turn a 10-8 deficit into a 21-12 lead and eventually seal the match.
Outside hitter Bree Pardy and middle Crystal Smith each led the Lions with 11 kills while middle Jacia Hayes added 10 kills on a .692 attack percentage. Right-side hitter Morgan Creer added eight kills.
Setter Scarlette Young dished out 30 assists to go with nine digs while setter Trinity Funderburk posted a double-double of 17 assists and 10 digs. Young also collected seven aces and Pardy six.
Libero Abbey Jackson and outside hitter Lydia Pitts each had 12 digs for the Lions.
UAFS begins MIAA play Thursday at Newman at 6 p.m.
