ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Volleyball earned its third sweep of the season Saturday with a 3-0 win over Auburn-Montgomery, 25-15, 25-11, 25-15.
The Lions hit .301 for the match while holding the Warhawks to .081 and had a 9-1 advantage in aces. Four players had two aces each.
UAFS hit .333 in the opening set, starting the match on a 6-2 run. A 6-1 run later in the set put the Lions ahead, 14-7, with the Warhawks pulling back within five before the Lions pulled away with a 4-0 run.
The Lions used runs of 8-0 and 9-0 in set two as they hit .375 to cruise to the set two win. Defensively, UAFS held AUM to -.040 in the set. In the final set, UAFS scored eight of the final nine points to close out the match.
Setters Scarlette Young and Trinity Funderburk each dished out 11 assists, as middle blocker Crystal Smith led the Lions with 10 kills. Young and outside hitter Lydia Pitts each added six kills.
Libero Abbey Jackson led the Lions with eight digs.
UAFS is back in action Friday against Southwest Baptist at 2:30 p.m.
