TULSA, Okla. - University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Men's Tennis picked up a win over NCAA I Oral Roberts Wednesday, defeating the Golden Eagles, 4-2, at LaFortune Park.
The Lions earned the doubles point by taking wins at Nos. 1 & 3, with Juan Rosello and Anis Ramchane teaming for a 6-4 win at the top spot and Killian Darneaux and Kevin Praphan joining forces for a 6-3 win at No. 3.
Ramchane and Darneaux put the Lions ahead, 3-2, in singles play as Ramchane won, 6-4, 6-3 at No. 3 and Darneaux, 6-4, 6-1 at No. 5.
Eduardo Bribiesca closed out the win for the Lions at No. 1 singles with a 7-5, 1-6, 6-3 victory. Rosello had split his first two sets, 7-6, 4-6 at No. 2 before his match went unfinished due to the Lions clinching the match.
The Lion women were swept, 7-0, against the Golden Eagles, with Antonietta Bocache and Isabella Serrano both battling to three set defeats. Bocache dropped a 2-6, 6-4, 7-10 decision at No. 4 while Serrano suffered a 6-3, 3-6, 4-10 setback.
Both teams are in action again this weekend for three matches, taking on former Lone Star Conference foes UT Tyler, Cameron and Midwestern State in Wichita Falls, Texas.
