ARLINGTON - University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Men's Tennis earned its first win of the season by knocking off previously unbeaten Dallas Baptist, 4-3, Friday in Arlington.
Anis Ramchane and Juan Rosello earned a 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles, but the Patriots took the 1-0 lead after winning at Nos. 2 & 3.
Rodrigo Hoppe put the Lions on the board with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 4 before Ramchane evened the match at 2-2 with a 7-5, 6-3 win at No. 3.
DBU regained the lead after a win at No. 5, but the Lions closed out the match with wins at the top two flights. Rosello tied the match with a 7-6, 6-3 win at No. 2 before Eduardo Bribiesca brought home the win with an epic, 5-7, 7-5, 6-4 win at No. 1.
The Lions will be back in action in a neutral site matchup against Christian Brothers in Little Rock.
In the women's match, Taylor Conway won her second consecutive singles match with a 6-2, 1-6, 1-0 (10-8) win at No. 2. It was the lone point for the Lions in a 6-1 defeat to the Patriots.
UAFS hosts Ouachita Baptist Sunday at 1 p.m. at The Hangout Fort Smith before joining the men in Little Rock against CBU.
