FORT SMITH, Ark. - University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Women's Basketball saw a double-digit lead slip away as the Lions fell to Southern Arkansas, 79-76, Saturday at the Stubblefield Center in the final game of the MIAA/GAC Challenge.

After leading by four at the half, UAFS stretched its lead to 57-46 after a three by guard Jordan Gregory with 5:04 left in the third quarter. However, three straight triples by the Muleriders cut the deficit to three before UAFS took a 62-60 lead into the fourth quarter.

A 5-0 run gave SAU its first lead since the opening tip before the Lions quickly tied the game at 65.

SAU then led by as many as six before the Lions trimmed the lead to 77-76 with 12 seconds remaining. After the Muleriders made both free throws, the Lions last second three missed off the rim as time expired.

UAFS shot 55.6 percent in the first quarter and scored 30 points after scoring just 45 in the game the night prior. The Lions finished at 42.6 percent for the game.

Guard Telisha Brown led the Lions with 28 points on 9-of-18 shooting, including 3-for-8 from beyond the arc and 7-for-11 from the line. She also had four assists.

Guards Taylor Addison and Haleigh Jackson each added 12 points for the Lions, with Jackson and guard D'Ahja Horton each grabbing a team-high six rebounds.

UAFS continues play at home Wednesday when the Lions host Arkansas Tech at 5:30 p.m. at the Stubblefield Center.
