FORT SMITH, Ark. - University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Volleyball will face travel partner Central Oklahoma twice this week, hosting the No. 7 Bronchos Wednesday before traveling to Edmond on Saturday.
First serve for Wednesday's contest at the Stubblefield Center is at 6 p.m. with the Lions wearing pink jerseys for the Coach Jane Sargent Women of Impact Pink Out match. The teams will then square off at 1 p.m. Saturday.
Both matches will be streamed on the MIAA Network with live stats available at uafortsmithlions.com. Wednesday's match will also be broadcast on Fox Sports Radio 103.5.
NOTES:
LAST WEEK: UAFS swept Arkansas-Monticello in its final nonconference match at the Stubblefield Center before dropping road MIAA contests at Nebraska-Kearney and Fort Hays State.
AROUND THE LEAGUE: The Lions are third in the MIAA in opponent hitting percentage at .149, second in blocks at 2.52 per set and second in aces with 1.75 per set.
LEAGUE LEADERS: Setter Scarlette Young ranks second in the MIAA with 0.49 aces per set. Middle Crystal Smith tops the MIAA with 1.41 blocks per set.
RECORD WATCH: Young ranks seventh all-time with 75 career service aces. Smith currently has the ninth most blocks in a single season with 113.
SCOUTING UCO: The No. 7 Bronchos are 19-3, 5-3 MIAA and leads the MIAA with 20.42 digs per set. Setter Lindsey Houran paces the MIAA with 11.58 assists per set while libero Kaitlyn Parrott leads the league with 5.94 digs per set.
THE SERIES: The Bronchos lead the all-time series over the Lions, 4-3, after the teams split the series last season.
