FORT SMITH, Ark. - University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Women's Basketball stayed perfect on its home court Wednesday as the Lions defeated Rogers State, 68-53, at Gayle Kaundart Arena at the Stubblefield Center.
The Lions defense forced 25 turnovers for a 29-15 advantage in points off turnovers and held the Hillcats to 29.4 percent from beyond the arc.
UAFS broke open a one-point game late in the third quarter, closing the frame on a 9-3 run for a 49-42 lead after three. The run extended into the fourth, with the Lions scoring the first eight points of the quarter to extend the lead to 15.
The Lions led for double digits the rest of the way as they closed out the game. UAFS held the Hillcats to just 1-for-9 from the floor in the fourth quarter.
Neither team led by more than six until the UAFS run at the end of the third.
Guard Telisha Brown scored a team-high 13 points off the bench while guards Anna Trusty and Morgan Browning each added 12 points. Trusty finished with a double-double by corralling 10 boards. Forward Sinetra Jones added eight points and seven boards as a reserve, as well. Â
UAFS finished with a 41-36 edge on the glass and had a 10-2 advantage in second chance points.
The Lions next host Central Oklahoma at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Stubblefield Center.
