Welcome to the MIAA

UAFS is transitioning into the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association this fall. Over the coming weeks, we are highlighting our new conference rivals so you know who the Lions are up against! This is your crash course in everything MIAA!

University of Nebraska at Kearney LopersĀ

About the university (Short Bio):Ā

Nebraska-Kearney is the only representative school from the state of Nebraska and the northernmost school in the conference. The Lopers have been in the MIAA for just over a decade,Ā joining the conference back in 2012. Boasting 17 varsity teams, there are plenty of opportunities for more match ups between the Lions and Lopers, asĀ the two have only faced off twice with both victories going to the Lions! Ā

But as for sports such as softball, the Lopers have a rich history. Competing in the first three women's college world series in 1969, 1970, and 1971, it wouldn't be until 1987 that they would capture their first NAIA national title. They would follow that up and win a second NAIA title in 1990. Ā
