FORT SMITH, Ark. - University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Women's Basketball cruised to its second straight win with an 86-56 victory over St. Mary's Saturday at Gayle Kaundart Arena at the Stubblefield Center.
The Lions dominated both inside and out, draining 10 threes and scoring 42 points in the paint while shooting 47.8 percent from the floor. UAFS had a season-low seven turnovers while forcing 19, leading to 26-5 advantage in points off turnovers.
St. Mary's led 6-5 in the first quarter when the Lions went on an 8-0 run and never looked back, leading for the final 36 minutes of the game.
The lead was nine after the first 10 minutes and grew to 24 at the half as the Lions shot 47.4 percent in the opening half. UAFS ballooned the lead up to as many as 33 in the third quarter as it coasted to the win.
Six players scored in double figures as the Lions dished out 18 assists. Forward Kayla Brundidge paced the offense with 13 points and eight rebounds while guards Morgan Browning and Baylee Fincher each tallied 12 points. Fincher had five assists, as well.
Guard Zyniah Thomas posted a stat line of 10 points, six boards and six assists with Sinetra Jones and Allana Thompson contributing 11 and 10 points off the bench, respectively. Guard Abby Summitt made three triples to finish with nine points.
UAFS recorded 18 fast break points while not allowing the Rattlers any.
Next up for the Lions is the final road trip of the regular season, starting with a February 22 matchup at Western New Mexico.
