MARYVILLE, Mo. – University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Volleyball was unable to replicate the success of a week ago as the Lions were swept Saturday, 23-25, 19-25, 12-25 at Northwest Missouri State.
The Lions had a 16-12 lead in set one before a 4-0 run by the Bearcats tied the set. UAFS regained the lead and led 22-21, but the Bearcats scored four of the final five points in the set.
NWMSU outhit the Lions .254-.134 for the match.
Outside hitter Caelyn Gunn led the Lions with eight kills and 16 digs, while middle blockers Kaelyn McDonald and Brianna Ball each tallied seven kills.
Setters Scarlette Young and Trinity Funderburk had 18 and nine assists, respectively, as well as eight and 11 digs.
UAFS returns home October 18 against Nebraska-Kearney as the Lions start a stretch of five of six matches at home.
