FORT SMITH, Ark. – University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Volleyball will host its home and Lone Star Conference opener Friday when the Lions take on Lubbock Christian at 6 p.m. at Gayle Kaundart Arena at the Stubblefield Center.
The Lions will also host Eastern New Mexico Saturday at 2 p.m. as part of the opening conference weekend.
Both matches will be live streamed on the Lone Star Conference Digital Network as well as broadcast on Fox Sports Radio 103.5 FM. Live stats will be available at uafortsmithlions.com.
NOTES:
LAST WEEK: UAFS went 2-1 at the LSC Preview with wins over St. Mary's and Texas A&M-Kingsville before falling in five sets against Angelo State.
PRICE IS RIGHT: Setter Chloe Price leads the LSC with 396 total assists and is third with 9.43 assists per set. She had three double-doubles last weekend while tallying over 40 assists in all three matches.
DOUBLE TROUBLE: Price has racked up eight double-doubles so far this season while outside hitter Caelyn Gunn has seven.
AROUND THE NATION: UAFS ranks sixth nationally and second in the LSC with 19.0 digs per set.
RECORD WATCH: Price is second all-time in assists with 1,669. Right-side hitter Reagan Macha ranks eighth with 761 career kills.
SCOUTING LCU: The Chaps started the season 7-0 but lost two of three at last week's LSC Preview. Outside hitter Kiana Fallaha is second in the LSC with 3.87 kills per set while setter Kayton Genenbacher is second with 9.76 assists per set.
SCOUTING ENMU: The Greyhounds are 8-5 after having won six of their last seven contests. Outside hitter Mikaela Garvin ranks fifth in the LSC with 3.74 kills per set while libero Getsemani Carrasco leads the league with 6.15 digs per set. ENMU is third in blocks per set at 2.35 and is tops in the league with a .112 opponent hitting percentage.
THE SERIES: UAFS leads the series with LCU 13-3 and is 3-0 all-time against Eastern New Mexico. This will be the first trip to the Stubblefield Center for the Greyhounds.
