BOLIVAR, Mo. - University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Men's Tennis played a back-and-forth match at Southwest Baptist Sunday, with the Bearcats eventually taking the 4-3 in in the final match.
UAFS went up 1-0 by taking the doubles point, with Anis Ramchane and Killian Darneaux earning the win at No. 1 and Juan Rosello and Eduardo Bribiesca taking the win at No. 2.
Five of the six singles matches went the distance, with Ramchane and Darneaux tallying wins at No. 1 and No. 4, respectively.
Rosello, Bribiesca and Juan Patino all battled in their respective matches before coming up just short in the tiebreaking set.
With the match tied at 3-3, Nicolas Retamales lost a heartbreaker at No. 6 singles. Each set went to a tiebreaker, where SBU won 10-8 and 14-12 for the 7-6, 7-6 win in the decisive match.
UAFS returns home following a week off to face Harding University March 4 at the Fort Smith Athletic Club.
