FORT SMITH, Ark. – Lubbock Christian outscored University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Women's Basketball 18-6 in the third quarter as the Lions dropped its final home game of 2023, 58-49, to the visiting Chaps Saturday at Gayle Kaundart Arena at the Stubblefield Center.

UAFS was held to just 30.0 percent shooting in the quarter while the Chaps were 6-for-10 and 6-for-8 from the free throw line.

The Lions went into the break with the lead, 24-22, after closing the half on an 8-2 run. UAFS held the Chaps to just two points over the final 7:26 of the half and just 2-for-14 from the floor in the quarter.

Despite falling behind in the third, the Lions continued to battle, going on a 7-0 run in the final two minutes to cut the deficit to 56-49 with 30 seconds to play.

UAFS held the Chaps to just 2-for-12 from beyond the arc, but LCU nearly doubled the Lions at the charity stripe.

Guard Baylee Fincher paced the Lions with 15 points, while guard Hannah Boyett added 14 points and five steals. Forward Sinetra Jones joined the pair in double figures with 11 points and four rebounds.

UAFS will continue conference play on the road next week by visiting Angelo State Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
