SAN ANGELO, Texas – University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Volleyball suffered a second straight setback Friday, falling to Angelo State, 25-21, 25-20, 25-18.
The Rambelles outhit the Lions, .240 to .156 for the match and had a 6-3 edge in aces.
UAFS used a 3-0 run midway through set one for a 16-15 lead, and the teams traded points to 19-19. Angelo State would go on to score four of the last five points to take the opening frame.
ASU started set two on a 7-1 run and the Lions were never able to recover having to play the entire set from behind. UAFS led 4-2 in set three, but it was quickly erased with a 9-2 ASU run as the Rambelles pulled away for the sweep.
Middle blocker Hannah Watkins hit .417 for the Lions with six kills, while right-side hitter Reagan Macha also had six kills. Outside hitter Nyia Anderson had a team-high eight kills. Setter Chloe Price had 27 assists on the night.
Anderson and outside hitter Caelyn Gunn each had 10 digs for the Lions, while Price and libero Paola Fragalle each had nine.
Watkins was in on four of the Lions' seven blocks with fellow middle blocker Angelina Hardison contributing three blocks.
The Lions conclude the road trip and play their final road match of the regular season Saturday at 2 p.m. at UT Permian Basin.
