KANSAS CITY – Matthew Wilson has earned another postseason award after being named Second Team NABC All-South Central District Monday. The All-District honors are voted on by NABC-member coaches across NCAA Division II.
This honor adds to the list Wilson has already earned which includes: CoSIDA Academic All-District, First Team All-LSC, and First Team All-South Central Region by the D2CCA.
Wilson becomes the fourth player in UAFS history to earn All-Region awards by the D2CCA and NABC in the same season.
Joining Wilson on the second team were Brian Dawson of Regis, Cameron Kahn of Dallas Baptist, Brendan Sullivan of Colorado School of Mines and Larry Wise of West Texas A&M.
Wilson led the Lone Star Conference in scoring at 20.4 points per game and became the sixth player at UAFS to score 1,000 points in a Lion uniform. He scored in double figures in all but two games and had four thirty-point games and 11 20-point games. He had 32 points in a win over then-No. 3 West Texas A&M. He averaged 2.6 rebounds and 3.0 assists, as well.
Wilson's 91 made threes this year are the second most in a season and he finished fifth in the league in three-point percentage (41.6) and second in made threes per game (3.4). He had two game-winning shots, including a three at the buzzer in an overtime win over Henderson State that helped earn him LSC Offensive Player of the Week.
