LUBBOCK, Texas – University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Women's Basketball battled at Lubbock Christian Tuesday, but ultimately saw its season come to a close with an 84-67 loss in the first round of the Lone Star Conference Tournament at the Rip Griffin Center.

All three seniors scored in double figures in their final games, with guard Paige Elston scoring 18 points to go with four assists. Forward Mar'Shalia Lollie tallied 12 points and nine rebounds, while Dachelle Terry scored 11 points off the bench.

The Lions were within reach late in the third quarter, down just 52-46 at the 2:30 mark. Despite trailing by 18 just minutes earlier, the Lions used a 15-3 run over four minutes with baskets from five different players to narrow the deficit.

Lubbock Christian took an eight-point lead into the fourth and started the quarter on a 6-0 run. The Chaps continued to build their lead as the road weary Lions ran out of steam.

UAFS scored just six points in the first half in their first meeting with the Chaps this year, but came out ready to play Tuesday, keeping pace with LCU for the first 10 minutes.

The Lions tied the game at 21-21 early in the second before the Chaps responded with a 9-0 run to regain the lead. The lead got up to as many as 15 before the Lions closed the final three minutes on 7-0 run of their own to go into the break down 37-29.

Guard Kalina Foster added 13 points for the Lions and went 2-for-2 from beyond the arc. Forward Laurissa Campbell tied Lollie with nine boards and had the lone block for the Lions.

UAFS outscored the Chaps 34-26 in the paint and also had a 10-3 advantage in second chance points. However, LCU shot 55.1 percent overall and 52.4 percent from three to 41.4 percent and 42.9 percent for UAFS.  Both teams received over 25 points from their benches.
