FORT SMITH, Ark. - University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Volleyball concludes the regular season this week with a pair of road matches at Midwestern State and Texas Woman's.
The Lions are slated to face the Mustangs Friday at 6 p.m. with the regular season finale Saturday against the Pioneers at 4 p.m. Both matches will be streamed on the Lone Star Conference Digital Network with live stats available at uafslions.com.
NOTES:
LAST WEEK: UAFS posted a 3-0 mark last week, sweeping both UT Tyler and Angelo State before defeating UT Permian Basin in four sets.
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK: Middle blocker Hannah Holland and libero Lauren Weber were named LSC Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, for leading the Lions to the 3-0 week.
.300: UAFS hit .300 last week in the sweep of UT Tyler, the third time this season the Lions have hit .300 or better in a match.
POSTSEASON PUSH: Last week's successes moved the Lion up to seventh in the LSC standings ahead of the final weekend of play before next week's LSC Championship.
RECORD WATCH: Holland continues to build on her record with 112 career aces and has moved into sixth on the all-time blocks list with 235, just five shy of a three-way tie for fourth. Setter Chloe Price moved into seventh with 1,193 assists.
SCOUTING MSU: The Mustangs are 6-21, 4-10 LSC after dropping their last four matches. MSU is last in the league in blocks per set. Middle blocker Aaliyah Burras and outside hitter Sadie Portmann each average 2.5 kills per set for the Mustangs, while libero Taygon Jones leads the team with 5.17 digs per set.
SCOUTING TWU: The Pioneers stand at 14-12, 5-9 LSC record and are 11-3 at home this season. Outside hitter Tori Woods lead the Pioneers with 2.59 kills per set while also second on the team with 2.64 digs per set.
THE SERIES: UAFS is 5-2 all-time against Midwestern State and 6-1 versus Texas Woman's.
