FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Women's Basketball showed that it will be a team that causes some noise in the Lone Star Conference this season after an exhibition at the University of Arkansas Wednesday at Bud Walton Arena.
Despite the 92-62 loss to the Razorbacks, the Lions showed promise for the upcoming season.
Guard Aaliyah Prince posted a double-double with 22 points, 12 rebounds and five assists on 10-of-16 shooting to lead the Lions. Forward Sinetra Jones made her presence felt in the paint by collecting 10 rebounds and tallying four blocks and two steals.
Elsewhere, guards Riley Hayes and Hannah Boyett combined to make five triples.
Defensively, the Lions held the Razorbacks to just 35.0 percent from the floor and 29.7 percent from beyond the arc to go with seven steals.
UAFS outscored Arkansas, 16-14, in the second quarter and kept up with the Hogs throughout the second half.
The Lions will look to take the experience from playing an exhibition against an NCAA I opponent and apply it to the regular season which begins November 11 at Westminster College in Salt Lake City, Utah.
