Volleyball resumes conference play against ranked foe Friday

FORT SMITH, Ark. - University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Volleyball returns to Lone Star Conference action this weekend after dominating a pair of nonconference opponents when it hosts West Texas A&M and Cameron at Gayle Kaundart Arena at the Stubblefield Center.

The 12th-ranked Lady Buffs visit the Stubblefield Center at 6 p.m. Friday on Staff Appreciation Night with Cameron visiting for a 1 p.m. first serve Saturday.

Both matches will be streamed on the Lone Star Conference Digital Network with live stats available at uafslions.com. Friday's match will be broadcast on Fox Sports Radio FM 103.5 while Saturday's contest will be on KOOL FM 104.7.

NOTES:

LAST WEEK: UAFS defeated a pair of nonconference opponents in Drury and Arkansas Tech.

HOW SWEEP IT IS: Both wins last week resulted in the Lions sweeping the Panthers and Golden Suns.

CAN YOU DIG IT: Libero Lauren Weber is third in the LSC in digs with 4.90 per set.

IN THE MIDDLE: Middle blocker Hannah Holland is hitting .369 and averaging 1.12 blocks per set in conference matches.

CAN'T STOP HER: Outside hitter Paola Fragalle was dominant in each of the nonconference wins. She had 13 kills with a .360 attack percentage in the in over Drury then added 14 kills on a .448 attack percentage in the win at Arkansas Tech. She also recorded a double-double with 10 digs in the win at ATU.

.200: UAFS is 9-2 when hitting above .200 for the match.

RECORD WATCH: Hannah Holland ranks first in aces with 95 and seventh in blocks with 214. Chloe Price is eighth in assists with 1,068.

THE SERIES: UAFS is 3-6 all-time against West Texas A&M and 8-2 against Cameron.

SCOUTING WT: The Lady Buffs are the last unbeaten team in LSC play at 16-4, 8-0 LSC and are ranked No. 12 by the AVCA. They have won their last nine matches and is second in the league in attack percentage at .252. Middle blocker Taytum Stow is second in the LSC with a .351 attack percentage while outside hitter Torrey Miller is fourth in the league with 3.76 kills per set. Stow is second in blocks at 1.25 per set.

SCOUTING CU: Cameron is one of two teams yet to win a conference match this season as it sits at 5-18, 0-8 LSC and is on a 14-match losing streak. Outside hitter Arianna Navarrete averages 3.08 kills per set to lead the Aggies, who rank near the bottom of the league in many statistical categories. Libero Meagan Jimenez averages 4.12 digs per set while the Aggies have two that average just over one block per set.
