FORT SMITH, Ark. – University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Volleyball embarks on its final road trip of the regular season this weekend, visiting Cameron and Midwestern State.
UAFS will visit Cameron Friday with a first serve of 5:30 p.m. with a 2 p.m. first serve scheduled for Saturday at Midwestern State. Both matches can be seen on the Lone Star Conference Digital Network with live stats also available at uafortsmithlions.com.
NOTES:
LAST WEEK: UAFS won its only match last weekend, sweeping travel partner Oklahoma Christian on the road.
HEATING UP: The Lady Lions have won six of their last seven conference matches after starting 1-5.
SETTING THINGS UP: Since being inserted into the starting lineup, setter Chloe Alderson is averaging 10.03 assists per set, which would rank second in the league.
OFFENSIVE IMPROVEMENT: During this stretch of conference matches, UAFS is hitting .227, above its season average of .180. The Lions are also averaging 1.5 more kills per set than its season average.
ACES WILD: UAFS continues to lead the LSC in aces with 1.84 per set. Middle blocker Hannah Holland leads the league with 0.49 aces per set.
THREE-WAY TIE: UAFS is currently in a three-way tie for 7th in the LSC standings as teams battle to earn the right to host a first round LSC Tournament match.
RECORD WATCH: Libero Lexy Lewis is currently 6th on the career digs list with 877 career digs. Middle blocker Hannah Holland is tied for 9th with Lexie Johnston with 141 total blocks. She ranks 8th with 34 solo blocks. Holland also ranks 7th with 69 career aces.
THE SERIES: UAFS owns an 8-1 series advantage over Cameron, having won the previous six meetings. The only win for the Aggies came in 2011. UAFS leads the series with Midwestern State, 4-2, after the teams split their four meetings during the spring season.
SCOUTING CAMERON: After winning their second match of the season, the Aggies have lost 24 matches in a row and are 1-25, 0-14 LSC on the year. Outside hitter Arianna Navarrete paces the Aggie offensive attack with 2.72 kills per set and is second on the team in digs, behind libero Presley Shearin's 2.81 digs per set.
SCOUTING MSU: The Mustangs have not fared much better than the Aggies, entering the weekend on a 13-match losing streak and just 3-19, 1-13 LSC. Leading the offense for the Mustangs is outside hitter Lauryn Bourne at 2.72 kills per set while libero Amy DeWalt heads the back row with 3.79 digs per set.
