FORT SMITH, Ark. – University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Volleyball celebrated Senior Day in style by sweeping Texas A&M – Kingsville Saturday, 25-21, 25-18, 25-17, at Gayle Kaundart Arena at the Stubblefield Center.
Outside hitter Paola Fragalle paced UAFS with a double-double of 11 kills and 14 digs, hitting .229 in the contest.
Middle blocker Hannah Holland added eight kills while hitting .313, while outside hitter Savannah Wharton hit .368 and tallied seven kills.
The Lady Lions trailed 17-15 in set one before embarking on a 9-1 run behind three blocks by Holland. The Javelinas kept the set alive with three straight points before Fragalle ended the set with a kill.
UAFS kept up the momentum from the end of the first set to break set two open with a 5-0 run to lead 16-8. After trading points, UAFS closed the set with a 3-0 run with Fragalle once again ending the set with a kill.
The Lions saved the best for last, as they hit .313 in set three for a total of .242 for the match. They would lead by as many as nine in the set extending a 10-7 lead with a 9-3 run.
Libero Jazzlyn Wells led UAFs with 19 digs with setter Chloe Alderson dishing out 34 assists.
Next up for the Lions is the Lone Star Conference Tournament, which they will host Tuesday at the Stubblefield Center. Complete details for the tournament will be announced later this evening.
