FORT SMITH, Ark. – The last weekend of the regular season has arrived for University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Volleyball, with the Lady Lions playing host to Texas A&M International and Texas A&M-Kingsville.
UAFS will face Texas A&M International Friday at 6 p.m. with the Lions taking on Texas A&M-Kingsville at 1 p.m. Saturday.
Both matches will be streamed on the Lone Star Conference Digital Network with live stats also available at uafortsmithlions.com. Friday's match will be broadcast on KHGG-FM 103.5 with Saturday's match being broadcast on KFPW-AM 1230.
NOTES:
LAST WEEK: UAFS split its two matches last week, falling in four sets at Cameron before defeating Midwestern State in five sets.
CLINCHED: With the win at Midwestern State last Saturday, the Lady Lions clinched a berth in the Lone Star Conference Tournament. This weekend's matches will determine seeding and if UAFS will host a first round matchup.
HOME SWEET HOME: UAFS will close the regular season out at home, where it has a 5-1 record. UAFS is one of five schools in the league with one or no losses at home.
SENIOR DAY: UAFS will honor its seniors prior to Saturday's contest against Texas A&M-Kingsville.
ACES WILD: UAFS is second in the LSC in aces with 1.77 per set. It leads the league with 177 total aces. Middle blocker Hannah Holland is second in the league with 0.48 aces per set.
RECORD WATCH: Libero Lexy Lewis is currently 6th on the career digs list with 904 career digs. Middle blocker Hannah Holland is 9th all-time with 153 total blocks. She is tied for 6th with 36 solo blocks and 10th with 117 block assists. Holland is also tied for 5th with 73 aces.
THE SERIES: UAFS has dominated the series' with the Dustdevils and Javelinas, owning a 20-1 record against Texas A&M International and 4-0 mark against Texas A&M-Kingsville.
SCOUTING TAMIU: The Dustdevils enter the weekend 4-18, 4-11 LSC after splitting its matches last weekend. TAMIU is winless on the road this season. Mackenzie Catalina leads the Dustdevils offensively with 3.71 kills per set, while libero Daniela Sandoval paces TAMIU with 3.97 digs per set.
SCOUTING TAMUK: The Javelinas started the season 8-0 but come into the final weekend at 13-8, 7-8 LSC. Outside hitter Jackie Alanis averages a team-best 3.54 kills per set with libero Nicole Murff leading the league in digs with 5.48 per set.
