Sophomore
Zach Delmonico won his No. 6 singles match and the No. 1 doubles tandem of sophomores
Wian Van Dyk and
Daniel Borrero won their doubles match, but the Lions dropped a hard-fought nonconference tennis match to the Southern Indiana Screaming Eagles 6-1 on Wednesday at Fort Smith Athletic Club.
Borrero and Van Dyk beat Parker Collignon and Martin Linares 6-2 to pick up the Lions' only doubles win, but the Screaming Eagles earned wins at Nos. 2-3 doubles to secure the doubles point.
Delmonico beat Kooper Falkenstein 6-4, 6-2 at No. 6 singles to earn the Lions' only singles win.
UAFS was scheduled to play the Harding Bison at 2 p.m. on Thursday at Searcy, Ark., but that match was postponed once again because of rain forecasted in the Searcy area. The match, along with the Lady Lions' match against the Lady Bison, has been rescheduled for 2 p.m. on April 16 at Searcy.
The Lions (1-5) and Lady Lions will resume nonconference play at 2 p.m. on Monday when they host John Brown at Fort Smith Athletic Club.
