Lions Ease Past Cardinals

The UAFS men's tennis team ended its spring break vacation on Tuesday afternoon with an impressive 6-1 nonconference win against the William Jewell Cardinals in Joplin, Mo.

It was the second win in three matches for the Lions (3-6), who will finish the week with a 10 a.m. match on Saturday against Midwestern State in Wichita Falls, Texas.

UAFS won two of the three doubles matches to earn the point and lead 1-0 early. Brady Kenyon and Luke Anderson beat Athos Brocker and Thiago Braga 7-5 at No. 2 doubles, and Zach Delmonico and Andrew Anderson beat Hayden Fulk and Jack Ledbetter 6-4 at No. 3 doubles.

The Lions won all but the No. 1 singles match. Wian Van Dyke beat Myers 6-2, 6-7, 10-7 in a three-set thriller at No. 2 singles. Kenyon beat Brocker 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 singles, Luke Anderson beat Fulk 6-4, 6-3 at No. 4 singles, Ethan Eddleton beat Ledbetter 6-4, 6-3 at No. 5 singles and Delmonico beat Braga 6-3, 6-1 at No. 6 singles.
