The Division II Conference Commissioners Association announced its 2019 All-South Central Region team Wednesday. UAFS volleyball's senior outside hitter,
Anna Demmer claimed Regional Player of the Year Honors. She was voted Lone Star Conference Player of the Year and First Team All-Region at Outside Hitter. Demmer's efforts have led the Lady Lions to the No. 4 seed in the South Central Regional, their highest seed since moving to D-II. The teams were nominated and voted on by the region's Sports Information Directors.
So far in the season, Demmer has led the Lady Lions team to a 26-6 season overall (17-1 in conference). Demmer leads the team in kills (404) and is the third on the team in digs (386), second on the team in blocks (76) and third in assists (62). She is averaging 3.45 kills per set and 3.21 digs per set which makes her a dominant force on both sides of the court. Earlier this season Demmer became the all-time leader in kills in UAFS Division II history.

Jane Sargent was glowing with pride following the announcement of Demmer's honors, "I'm so proud of Anna and all the work that she has dedicated to to her volleyball skills. From the struggles of her freshman year to the triumph of her senior year it has been incredible journey for her. She has set the bar for us and we will be forever grateful that of all the Universities she could have chosen she picked UAFS!"
Anna Demmer will lead the Lady Lions in the upcoming NCAA Regional Tournament in Denver as the Lady Lions take on Texas A&M-Commerce at 6 p.m. (CST) in Regis Fieldhouse.
